The History of the FGU.

On July 1, 1999, after two years of preparation, the first foreigners' union for the Fukuoka / Northern Kyushu are was officially established. Called the Fukuoka General Union, our purpose is to maintain and improve the working conditions of our members in Fukuoka. Any non-management worker of any nationality is welcome and encouraged to join the union. With the foreign national population at an all time high of 14,442, up nearly 80% in the last 10 years, we feel there is a strong need for the Fukuoka General Union.
